aftercare
Don Brown has been directing Golden Key activities at Tompkins County Jail for more than twenty years. Every week he meets with men one-on-one at the jail to disciple and prepare them for their return to the community. Along with Mark Barber, they also meet with men at many times during the week to encourage and support their continued adjustments to returning to their families, jobs, and community. Sometimes Mark is able to hire them to work on his construction crew building and remodeling homes.
Golden Key in Tompkins County also collaborates with Community Faith Partners, a coalition of local churches working to meet the needs of the people living in Tompkins County. Recently, working with the Rescue Mission, the Faith Partners are close to opening ten residential housing units for the homeless called Court Street Place on 717 Court Street in Ithaca, NY. This will be a wonderful addition to the aftercare resources offered by our Tompkins County Golden Key Team.
Of course, we are also grateful for the churches in Tompkins County that will welcome and disciple ex-prisoners and their families.
